Cutting Social Care Red Tape Needs Urgent Action

23/06/2016

The Department of Health review aimed at cutting red tape for social care providers exposed a very real problem. It revealed the effort care providers currently waste in maintaining different records for the CQC, local authorities and Clinical Commissioning Groups.

Although aimed at residential care, I know that domiciliary care providers share many of the frustrations.

Welcome as the report is, much of it just highlights a problem we all know about. What care providers really need are some workable solutions.

Government agencies agreeing to change their requirements and devising ways to share information is a worthwhile goal – but how long will it take? And what happens in the meantime?

What you can do, right now

Right now, if you want to cut social care red tape, you can put your paper forms online and even onto a smartphone. You can collect all the data you need in one place and output it in whatever format any organisation might demand. This is the sort of thing that CareForIT takes in its stride.

You can then keep closer track of your care delivery standards and get automatic notifications when tasks or targets are in danger of being missed.

Ultimately you’ll spend more time on your service users and less time on paperwork.

CareForIT is also being used as an E-Brokerage system for commissioning bodies to award contracts and monitor performance. This further simplifies the communication process and cuts through much of the confusion and waste.

What you do now is up to you…

  1. Wait for recommendations, working parties and feasibility studies to solve the problem. Or…
  2. Act now. Come along to stand Q90 at the Health+Care Show and see how CareForIT already simplifies your record keeping and reporting.
  3. If you’re not going to the show, book an online demo to see for yourself.
